I recently participated in a Table Runner/Table Topper swap with the Quilted Table Yahoo group. It was quick and a lot of fun. To the left is a photo of the lovely Table Runner that I received from my swap partner.

To the right is a photo of the Table Topper that I sent in return. I used 1930's reproduction fabrics and really liked how it turned out.

Well I did do some cutting and sewing for the Friday night Sew-In, but never took photos. I did cut the fabric for the whole quilt and was able to complete 42 of the 78 half square triangles needed. After the HST's the rest of the sewing will go pretty fast I think. I will try to post photos tomorrow after work.

I have been doing laundry and cleaning house today so that I can sew guilt free this evening. I am going to work on a baby quilt. I bought this fabric to make a baby quilt when my sister-in-law was pregnant a few years ago but never even cut into the fabric. The pattern is from Debbie Mumm's Quick Country Quilting book and it will have 6 rabbits on it. Blue, yellow, and green will be the fabric colors. I am hoping to do all of the cutting and as much of the sewing as possible. Tomorrow I will post photos of my progress. Unfortunately I still do not have a good digital camera so I will have to use the one on my phone.

I just joined the Friday Night Sew-In for this upcoming Friday. This just means that this Friday evening I will work on a sewing project and then post photos on Saturday. It is fun to know that so many other people will be participating. I am not sure which project I will work on but it will be a quilting UFO. I haven't posted in months. I have done some sewing, but my digital camera broke and I have no way to take photos right now. I am hoping to get a new camera for my birthday in July. I thought I would talk about projects I am currently working on. The first one is a baby quilt for a girl. It is a simple nine patch with plain alternate squares. I bought a really cute dragonfly fabric at JoAnn's and that is serving as the 6" alternate squares and the borders. The 6" nine patch squares are dark pink for the corners and centers with light pink for the other four squares. There will also be smaller nine patches as corners in the border. The second project is a mystery quilt that I am doing along with the Chain-a-spool quilters on yahoo groups. Mine will be scrappy with white on white background and a bright yellow-gold for the accent color. I am also working on a twin-sized scrappy no-peek nine patch quilt as a leader-ender project. I will post photos as soon as I get a new camera.

I can't believe I haven't posted anything on my blog since April. I have been working full time at Target for the last several months and haven't sewn a stitch. My hours have been reduced now that Christmas is over so hopefully I will have some time for sewing. Next week I have four days off and will post some pics.

Here are the three blocks that I made for the March lottery on the yahoo block lottery group. The pattern is called Double Nine Patch and they are 18" square. The fabrics we had to use were white on white background with pastel or spring colors for the nine patches. Guess what? I won the lottery for the month and received seven more of these blocks which makes 10 altogether. Since I won, I got to choose the block pattern for April. I chose the "Baby Bud" 12" block from Quilterscache.com. Any color fabrics can be used.

DONE! I finally finished the blue and yellow bowtie quilt top. It turned out just as I had envisioned it. I really like blue and yellow together. What a great combo for a baby quilt that could go to either a girl or a boy. Ignore the incorrect date on the photos. I have an old digital camera and everytime you replace the batteries, the date resets. It is too much trouble to correct it each time. GRRRR!

Here are the lottery blocks for February. The pattern is called Pleasant path and the colors were pale yellow and purple. The colors did not turn out very well in these photos. The yellow is a pale but true yellow and are not as beige or washed out looking as they seem in the pictures.

I am not doing too well on my New Year's resolution to update my blog more frequently. I made two blocks for the Yahoo! block lottery group in January. The guidelines were 12" bowtie blocks using bright fabrics for the bowties and black on black fabric for the back ground.

Tomorrow I will start on my next UFO. It will be a yellow, blue, and white bowtie quilt. The 4 " bowtie blocks will be yellow and white. There will be 7 rows of 6 bowtie blocks. They will be surrounded by a blue border. I was inspired to make this because of a quilt I saw on Webshots. Here is a photo of the progress I've made so far. I have 12 bowtie blocks done.

It's the eleventh day of 2008 and I am behind in one of my resolutions. This year I am really going to concentrate on finishing all of my quilting and sewing UFO's (Un-Finished Objects). I also am going to post to my blog more often. Today I did finish a pillowcase made with Batman - The Dark Knight fabric.

I received my grid back and this is how mine looks. I really like how it turned out. I think I will add sashing and one or two borders. This round robin was a lot of fun and I am glad that I was a part of it.

I finished a quilt block for the Block Robin swap that I am currently in. It is a mother sheep with 5 baby sheep. The recipient's theme was a farm quilt. This is a pattern from Debbie Mumm's book Quick Country Quilting.

I just thought I would post a photo of a pillowcase that I made for my nephew on his birthday. I went to the fabric store and bought fabric that I thought any small boy would like and chose this cute construction vehicles fabric. When we showed up at the birthday party I was pleased to see that the theme of his party was construction vehicles. The cake and all of the decorations had various contruction vehicles so my fabric was the perfect choice.

These next two blocks were made by me to attach to another person's grid in the block robin(see description in earlier post below). Her theme was coffee. These pictures are not that great because they were taken with a camera phone.

I am currently participating in a block robin swap. There are six of us in the group. Each person drew a grid of 6 X 8 four inch squares on a plain piece of muslin. Then each person had to come up with a theme that she wanted her quilt to be. She then made a quilt block to attach to the grid. The grid then gets mailed to the next person on the list. As you receive each grid you attach quilt blocks that follow the theme of the grid. When you finally get your own grid back, you sew all the blocks together and then you have a small quilt to treasure. Here is a picture of the block that I put on my grid before I sent it out. This photo is a little washed out because the fabrics are much brighter than they appear. My theme was 1930's reproduction fabrics with shirting backgrounds.

I participated in the "Dear Jane" signature swap again this year. It was a lot of fun and I received some wonderful siggies in return. I used up about four yards worth of fat quarters and made 160 blocks.

Today I started sorting my big bin of scraps. My 9 year old daughter and my 6 year old niece were playing with the scraps and made a "quilt" on the bed. Here is a photo of their creation.

In the last few days I completed some 6" split rail quilt blocks. These were started about 2 years ago as part of an ongoing swap of split rail blocks made with pastel colors with white on white backgrounds. I swapped until it was cancelled and these were made from leftover fabrics used or bought for that swap. There are 21 total and they turned out well. My favorite is the multi-colored one made from leftover block units.

Yay! I am finally sewing again. I finished my lavender and 30's prints baby quilt top. It turned out really cute. Originally it was intended for my nephew but he is getting too big and I think it is not his style after all. I am going to sell it on ebay.

Wow, it's been quite a while since I posted. I really haven't done any sewing in months. I have recently cleaned out my closet and semi-organized my fabric and will start sewing today. The last thing I made was this primitive rag doll bunny which I sold on ebay. It is made from tea-stained and buttercream scented fabric for the body, and tea-stained cotton fabrics for the outfit.

Great pillowcase pattern. I made two pillowcase over the last couple of days. They are for my two youngest daughters and I think they turned out fantastic. The pattern comes from Terry Bowden over at Friendshipquilters.com. I signed up at that website and joined a couple of their events. The Sweet Dreams Pillowcase event was the first one I participated in and I also signed up for the needlecase event. In the pillowcase event everyone posts pictures of their pillowcases and then we will vote on them in various categories. It should be fun. In the needlecase event we have to make at least one needlecase and post a picture of it. The hostess will then assign each of a us a swap partner and we will swap needlecases. I haven't started mine yet but will soon. Here are photos of the two pillowcases.

Y2k fever. Okay so I'm a little late on this but better late than never. Back in 1998 and 1999 I traded fabric with quilters on the internet to make a Y2K quilt. Each person cut 25 squares from 25 different fabrics and added a signature square. The goal was to receive 80 sets of 25 which would total 2000 squares of fabric, each one different. That way you could make a quilt out of 2000 different fabrics in celebration of the millennium. I am explaining this for those who may not know what a Y2k quilt is. Anyway, I collected 160 sets which is enough for 2 quilts. I finally sewed a block together. This is the block made from one of the sets that I cut. I will work on these periodically when I need a break from other projects.

Siggies are done and were shipped on Wednesday. I had a busy week finishing up the signature squares for the Dear Jane Siggy Swap. My youngest daughter was still running a fever so had to take her back to the Doc on Monday and get her a stronger antibiotic. She made it back to school on Wednesday and then on Thursday she went to the dentist to have a small cavity filled. Now I need to get back to work on my nephew's quilt. Also, I signed up for the Dear Jane Spring Fling swap and need to get 20 blocks done for that which are due on June 1st. I have fabric for two sets of the blocks and will post pics later. Off to sew and organize my sewing area.

GRRR!! What a week! One daughter is back in school today but the other has double ear infections and we've already been to the doctor today. No time for sewing so far, but this evening looks promising. Yesterday I did get 6 more siggy blocks done and have 75 more to go. I should be able to complete them by Monday.
Yesterday I decided to load up a few items on E-bay. They are mostly packaged patterns that I have never even opened and know that I will never sew. Hopefully they will sell although I doubt if they will make much money. I will feel better if I know that someone actually wants them and will probably make them.

I am still working on my Dear Jane siggy blocks. I now have a total of 42 done which leaves 80 more to go. I really need to concentrate on these so that I can mail them out early next week. It doesn't help that two of my daughters are home from school with fever and headache. I will do my best.

Ufo #1 is a quilt I am trying to finish for my nephew who was born on Feb. 10th. The picture is dark and doesn't show the true colors very well. The purple is a lavender and the print squares are all 30's reproductions. I am in the process of frogstitching between rows 2 and 3. I have two more rows to sew together and add to the quilt. It will be 5 blocks across and six blocks down. I will then add a 1.5" inner border of the lavender and then a 3" border of a 30's print. I am going to hand quilt it.

13 more siggy blocks made today for a total of 18 done and 104 more to go. I want to these out of the way so that I can work on my next two projects. I am making a baby quilt for my nephew who is about one month old. It is a nine patch and snowball quilt using 30's prints and lavender. I have all of the blocks made and four of the rows put together. I need to purchase border fabric but I have the backing and binding ready to go. The next quilt I will do is one for my niece who is also about 1 month old. It is the same pattern as the other quilt only using 30's prints with a light yellow fabric. All of the 2.5" 30's prints are cut but that is as far as I have gotten. I will try to get some photos up tomorrow.

Dear Jane siggy swap blocks. I am participating in the "Dear Jane" signature block swap again this year. I need to make 122 blocks and mail them so they reach their destination by April 15th. More lottery blocks. I completed 2 scrappy Jacob's Ladder blocks for another yahoo group. In the photo of the two blocks together it came out really dark and doesn't not show the colors very well. The other photos show the colors better, but I chopped off the bottom part. I need to get better at taking digital photos!! Also apparently my camera thinks that it is June 1, 1999.

I have been so busy what with my kids being home for Spring Break that I haven't had much "me" time. I did accomplish two things though. I finished a redwork block to mail to a fellow quilter who is collecting handprint blocks and I finished two lottery blocks for a yahoo group. I am showing a pic of the two blocks and I apologize for the darkness of the photo.
I am hoping that tomorrow I will be able to put up pictures of the two UFO's that I am currently working on. Soon I will be listing all of the UFO's and WIP's that I have going so that I can stay motivated and update my blog with the progress that I am making.

Their bodies are made from tea-stained muslin that has been painted and sanded. The dresses were made from Halloween print fabrics that were also tea-stained. I think they came out adorable.

I make them and sell them on ebay under the user name of poeslenore. This doll was made from Buttercream scented tea-stained muslin from www.SugarPlumStitches.com. The patchwork dress is made from squares of fabric that were primarily pink and yellow. The dress was then tea-stained for the primitive look.
